# “Well done wee Bears” – These Rangers fans were happy with youth side

“Well done wee Bears” – A lot of Gers fans were pleased to see their youth side beat the senior Berwick Rangers side 2-1 in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup.

The Rangers Colts took an early [two-goal lead](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-berwick-1-2-rangers-colts/) thanks to a penalty from [Dapo Mbeude](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-berwick-1-2-rangers-colts/), and a crisp finish from [Josh McPake](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-berwick-1-2-rangers-colts/) – to put Graeme Murty’s side into a [comfortable position](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-berwick-1-2-rangers-colts/).

Berwick pulled one back with [20 minutes](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-berwick-1-2-rangers-colts/) to go – when Kieran Wright in the Rangers goal failed to deal with a cross, and [Dan Purves](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-berwick-1-2-rangers-colts/) bundled the ball home.

The Colts though[hung on](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-berwick-1-2-rangers-colts/) – and they will now [face Stranraer](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-berwick-1-2-rangers-colts/) in the next round of the competition.

This was a [good test](https://twitter.com/RFC_Youth/status/1158852012571799553) for Murty’s side playing against a senior team – and they can [take positives](https://twitter.com/RFC_Youth/status/1158852012571799553) from their performance.

These Rangers fans are certainly pleased to see the youth team performing well.

These Gers fans are just happy to see the team winning – and they were quick to heap praise on the young lads who are currently representing the Colts.

Others, meanwhile, see these games as important for their development as footballers. Playing these young lads against senior players will undoubtedly help their growth as players.
