# Ibrox move gives Sheyi Ojo the chance to resurrect a stuttering career

Sheyi Ojo has joined [Rangers on loan](https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/rangers-sign-sheyi-ojo/) to play regular [first-team football](https://onefootball.com/en/news/sheyi-ojo-reveals-why-he-chose-to-join-rangers-en-26036178?variable=20190813) – and to help the Ibrox based side [achieve their aims](https://onefootball.com/en/news/sheyi-ojo-reveals-why-he-chose-to-join-rangers-en-26036178?variable=20190813) this season.

So far, he has scored [three goals](https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=80195) and provided [one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheyi-ojo/leistungsdaten/spieler/236510) in all competitions – and he is starting to build up a good rapport with a lot of Gers fans.

After his latest performance against Hibernian – Ojo was praised very heavily on [social media](https://twitter.com/sheyi_ojo/status/1160627851277873152) by many Rangers fans.

This move was exactly what the 22-year-old needed – after a succession of [poor loan spells](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheyi-ojo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/236510) in the last few years.

The most recent loan move was a dreadful spell in France for Stade Reims – where Ojo made just [15 league appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheyi-ojo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/236510) and did not score or assist a [single goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheyi-ojo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/236510).

At 22 this feels like Ojo’s [last chance](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/what-sheyi-ojo-bring-rangers-16500412) to make an impression on Jurgen Klopp – and so the [fantastic start](https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=80195) he has had might have caught the German’s attention.

Steven Gerrard has quite a [few wingers](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glasgow-rangers/kader/verein/124) to choose from – but he needs one of them to step up and replace [Ryan Kent](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/07/29/rangers-have-plenty-of-time-to-find-a-ryan-kent-replacement/).

Ojo has certainly made a[good start](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/sheyi-ojo-started-quicker-rangers-090917455.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvLnVrLw&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAGvzzqXGU3-yS2sOxk5k4gH5bjPI2pvqzfnuWjxKubDgsdzQGnUOyNILp_tazYRjNaYtQrthm2JAIU2CQs4vP7MxNKa8qmAumyCA173j0g40fI0C8d0_52KzMsj_b3fuD3GeOlOK_JfvCkg-XIMnxfizuN8OJyTc45p6krcRBr4V) in his bid to fill Kent’s role in Gerrard’s side.

Once seen as one of the [brightest young talents](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/what-sheyi-ojo-bring-rangers-16500412) in England, Ojo’s career has [stagnated somewhat](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/what-sheyi-ojo-bring-rangers-16500412) – and this move to the SPFL could be precisely what he needs to get [back on track](https://onefootball.com/en/news/sheyi-ojo-reveals-why-he-chose-to-join-rangers-en-26036178?variable=20190813).

After all, he has made [13 senior appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheyi-ojo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/236510) for Liverpool – so there is obviously some talent there, just for one reason or another it has not manifested itself into [consistent performances](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/what-sheyi-ojo-bring-rangers-16500412).

Although it is still only August Ojo has made a [positive start](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/sheyi-ojo-started-quicker-rangers-090917455.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvLnVrLw&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAGvzzqXGU3-yS2sOxk5k4gH5bjPI2pvqzfnuWjxKubDgsdzQGnUOyNILp_tazYRjNaYtQrthm2JAIU2CQs4vP7MxNKa8qmAumyCA173j0g40fI0C8d0_52KzMsj_b3fuD3GeOlOK_JfvCkg-XIMnxfizuN8OJyTc45p6krcRBr4V) to life in Scotland – and if he can continue that for the whole season then maybe he can resurrect his career.
