# These Rangers fans give their thoughts on Joe Aribo’s international call-up

“Another international in the team” – A lot of Gers fans are delighted for Joe Aribo after he was handed his [first international](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joe-aribo-handed-nigeria-boost-18933146) call-up to the Nigeria squad.

The 23-year-old [joined Rangers](https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/rangers-sign-joe-aribo/) this summer after his contract at [Charlton Athletic expired](https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/rangers-sign-joe-aribo/)

He supposedly turned down interest from the [Championship](https://talksport.com/football/563556/lee-bowyer-shocked-joe-aribo-charlton-rangers/) and the [Premier League](https://talksport.com/football/563556/lee-bowyer-shocked-joe-aribo-charlton-rangers/) to move to Glasgow.

However, he was criticised for this by his former manager[Lee Bowyer](https://talksport.com/football/563556/lee-bowyer-shocked-joe-aribo-charlton-rangers/) who claimed that Aribo could do [much better](https://talksport.com/football/563556/lee-bowyer-shocked-joe-aribo-charlton-rangers/) and that he was making the [wrong career choice](https://talksport.com/football/563556/lee-bowyer-shocked-joe-aribo-charlton-rangers/).

After just [six games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-aribo/leistungsdaten/spieler/468198) for Steven Gerrard’s side he has received his first [international call-up](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joe-aribo-handed-nigeria-boost-18933146) – making [Bowyer’s claims](https://talksport.com/football/563556/lee-bowyer-shocked-joe-aribo-charlton-rangers/) look somewhat misguided.

Aribo has impressed so far, [scoring three goals](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joe-aribo-handed-nigeria-boost-18933146) in all competitions.

Many Gers fans are pleased for their new midfielder.

A lot of Rangers supporters believe that this call-up to the Nigeria squad is well deserved and they think that it reflects well on the club.

Other Gers fans are confused about Aribo’s heritage as many thought he was English, but they rate the 23-year-old highly.
