Rangers were comfortably [beaten 2-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49463324) at Ibrox by their archrivals, and a lot of the blame has to be pinned on Gerrard.

The Gers’ boss decided not to play any of [his wingers](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17873918.steven-gerrard-got-team-tactics-wrong---six-talking-points-ibrox/) and relied on [James Tavernier](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17873918.steven-gerrard-got-team-tactics-wrong---six-talking-points-ibrox/) as his only outlet.

This [narrowed the play](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17873918.steven-gerrard-got-team-tactics-wrong---six-talking-points-ibrox/) and made the game comfortable for Celtic – who were quite happy to [pick Rangers off](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17873918.steven-gerrard-got-team-tactics-wrong---six-talking-points-ibrox/) on the counter.

Rangers, who have had no problems [scoring](https://www.skysports.com/rangers-results) this season, failed to test [Fraser Forster](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49463324) in the Celtic goal and, in truth, they [were very poor](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1172565/Rangers-player-ratings-Celtic-Tavernier-Goldson-poor-Old-Firm).

Many Rangers supporters entirely blame Gerrard for the defeat, and they believe he was tactically naïve.
