# “The only player that got a pass” – Rangers fans praise Steven Davis

“The only player that got a pass” – A lot of Gers fans were relatively happy with [Steven Davis’](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1172565/Rangers-player-ratings-Celtic-Tavernier-Goldson-poor-Old-Firm)performance on a [grim day](https://talksport.com/football/595553/celtic-victorious-old-firm-win-rangers/) for the Gers.

In the first [Old Firm game](https://talksport.com/football/595553/celtic-victorious-old-firm-win-rangers/) of the season, Rangers were [comfortably beaten](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1172565/Rangers-player-ratings-Celtic-Tavernier-Goldson-poor-Old-Firm) by Celtic at Ibrox – with many of the[Gers’ best players](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1172565/Rangers-player-ratings-Celtic-Tavernier-Goldson-poor-Old-Firm) simply not turning up for the game.

[Davis worked hard](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1172565/Rangers-player-ratings-Celtic-Tavernier-Goldson-poor-Old-Firm) in midfield, but he could not do anything about Steven Gerrard’s [odd tactics](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17873918.steven-gerrard-got-team-tactics-wrong---six-talking-points-ibrox/) – which saw Rangers lineup without any [recognised](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17873918.steven-gerrard-got-team-tactics-wrong---six-talking-points-ibrox/) wingers.

This meant that all of the play was in the [middle of the pitch](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17873918.steven-gerrard-got-team-tactics-wrong---six-talking-points-ibrox/) and Celtic were happy to condense the game and play on the [counter-attack](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17873918.steven-gerrard-got-team-tactics-wrong---six-talking-points-ibrox/).

Gerrard was not helped by [several poor](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1172565/Rangers-player-ratings-Celtic-Tavernier-Goldson-poor-Old-Firm)performances, but his gamble did not pay off.

Many Gers fan, though, were pleased with Davis.

Many Rangers supporters were pleased with Davis but disappointed with everyone else.

Some Rangers fans think the entire team was awful and none of them deserved any praise.
