- Nico Raskin dazzled in Rangers’ win against Aberdeen on Saturday
- It comes off the back of securing a national team place with Belgium
- The midfielder needs to continue his form to ensure Rangers win the league
Gers midfield star Nico Raskin was instrumental in helping Rangers see off Aberdeen 4-1 at the weekend.
His stunning all-round performance comes after being selected for Belgium’s latest international fixtures.
Raskin scored the third goal in the decisive victory and had a hand in Tochi Chukwuani’s opener.
The Belgian star was a forgotten man at Ibrox under Russell Martin, since become a star under Danny Rohl.
He and Tochi Chukwuani had the perfect balance against Aberdeen, giving Rohl a solid two to push for the title.
Raskin was defensively solid and was a key cog in most of their goals, following on from his display against St Mirren last weekend.
The midfield ace will be crucial in midfield if the Gers are to secure the Premiership title.

Nico Raskin complete performance
Defensively, he won all three of his tackles, made six recoveries, and won three of his five ground duels.
Raskin has always been the player in that Rangers midfield who can dictate the game.
Against Aberdeen, it was no different, making 70 of his 83 passes and creating one big chance.
He also made 32 of his 43 attempted passes in the Aberdeen half, being a constant thorn in their defence.
He initiated the move for Mikey Moore’s goal with a brilliant cross-field pass to Tuur Rommens.
Raskin nearly grabbed an assist with a delicious, lofted ball over the top for Youssef Chermiti.
His high press was vital. He won the ball back from Toyosi Olusanya to kickstart the counterattack for Rangers’ second goal.
The Belgian star capped off his performance by scoring the all-important third goal, which re-established their two-goal cushion.
He crashed home a loose ball off James Tavernier’s cross to send Rangers home with three points.
Midfield must step up
With recent injuries to Connor Barron and Mo Diomande, the onus is on Raskin and Chukwuani to be the main pairing.
The pair are the only 100% game-ready midfielders in the squad and must perform if Rangers are to win the league.
There is an extra incentive for Raskin as he aims to stake his claim in the Belgium team ahead of the World Cup in America.
A strong end to the season and winning the league would set him up perfectly to aim high with the national team.

When Russell Martin was in charge, Raskin was frozen out, and the Gers won one of their first seven league games.
Raskin has returned to the fold under Rohl and proven how pivotal he is to success in the last two games, especially.
In my expert opinion, when Raskin performs at his best, the entire Rangers team, from defence to attack, operates more smoothly and wins games.
