The Rangers odyssey of Rabbi Matondo has come to an abrupt conclusion with the Welsh winger signing for Norwegian side SK Brann.
The 25-year-old has agreed to move on from his Ibrox deal, three months before it’s expiry to join up with his new club.
Brann have signed the player on a free transfer but Rangers hold a sell on clause for any future sale of the player.
The three-time Eliteserien champions have lost their opening two matches this season and feel Matondo can be the spark to kick their campaign into life.
Rabbi Matondo finally departs
Rangers boss Danny Rohl has only used the former Manchester City winger three times since his arrival in October, with just a single minute of Premiership action handed to the player.
Rohl had said upon the closure of the January window that Rangers would look to offload Matondo to a league with a different calendar.
“There are still markets open, let’s see what happens,” the German had said.
He now looks to have found that option with Brann.
The club announced the departure of the 25-year-old on Tuesday afternoon, confirming that “Rabbi Matondo has joined Norwegian side SK Brann on a permanent deal.”

Rabbi Matondo made 70 appearances across four seasons at Rangers, scoring eight goals.
He has been lamented by the support for his refusal to move on from his reported £28k a week deal, but Rangers can now invest that money into the future of the squad.
His most memorable strike being a last-minute leveller in a 3-3 draw with Celtic at Ibrox, but moments of quality were few and far between.
The signing of Matondo and the minimal return from the massive outlay was an expensive disappointment and has to go down as a terrible case study in player recruitment.
Hopefully, the player can somehow rejuvenate his career in Norway, leading to a move to a bigger league and if that happens, Rangers will be in line for a share of the proceeds.
