If there’s one man you want in your corner ahead of battle, there are few better than Graeme Souness.
The man who arrived at Ibrox in the summer of 1986 and set about transforming the club into the modern era made a guest appearance at the Rangers training centre on Friday, meeting Danny Rohl and the players.
Some images were shared by the club’s social media team showing interactions out on the grass, but it will be interesting to learn if there have been any private talks between Rohl and the man who was in his position in the late 80s and early 90s.
It’s interesting to note that Danny Rohl is older now (37) than Graeme Souness was (34) when he arrived at the club from Sampdoria to embark on a player-manager role all those years ago.
Graeme Souness makes Rangers visit
Monday’s game against Hearts is a must-win for Rangers.
Danny Rohl and the players go into this encounter knowing that only a victory will do to keep the title charge alive.
A draw would be something, and obviously denies Hearts the three points, but a four-point deficit with just three games to go would be extremely difficult to overcome.
I wonder what Mr Souness’ views on the challenge are?
He would have had some interesting thoughts to share with Danny Rohl on the matter.
Last weekend, the Rangers legend attended a formal dinner event at New Edmiston House to mark 40 years since his arrival at the club.
Souness was characterised by his ability, grit, determination, leadership, and mentality – Rangers will need to show elements of all those traits in the coming weeks if success is to be achieved.
