- Curtis scored as Kilmarnock take a step closer to safety in Dundee United win
- Teenager lauded by manager Neil McCann for his performance
- 19-year-old is expected to return to Rangers at the end of the season
Findlay Curtis is continuing to live up to his reputation as an emerging talent after his goal for Kilmarnock yesterday afternoon.
The 19-year-old scored the Ayrshire club’s second goal as they downed Dundee United to climb out of the relegation play-off spot.
Neil McCann’s men are one point above St Mirren in tenth place with three matches remaining and the Paisley outfit are their next opponents in the battle for survival.
Curtis’ performances of late have also been noticed by Danny Rohl with the German commenting on the teenager’s international debut for Scotland.
McCann lauds Curtis for performance in vital win for Kilmarnock
The Killie boss called out the Rangers loanee for his performance saying: “I think what he’s done today is just show that he can be a big player, never mind his age, coming here.
“It’s a big risk for a boy to come here, you know, leaving a club like Rangers but he’s shown really strong personality to come in and fit into the group.”
It is clear how much McCann values Curtis and if anyone knows what it takes to be a Rangers player, it is the 51-year-old.
Curtis has proven that he can step up and deliver when it matters in a must-win game.
Granted, stepping up for Kilmarnock in a relegation battle is a completely different kettle of fish to doing the same for Rangers.
But what Curtis has shown is that he has the versatility and the character which are key qualities in a Rangers player.
Steve Clarke watches Curtis shine as World Cup selection looms
In attendance at Rugby Park was Scotland manager Clarke who will be weighing up who to include in the squad for the country’s first World Cup in 28 years.
Curtis was handed his international debut in the recent friendlies by Clarke, so he is certainly aware of the youngster’s talent.
His performance and goal for Killie was the perfect message to send and the 19-year-old will surely have caught the eye of the Scotland boss.
Scotland and the World Cup aside, a strong finish at Rugby Park will leave Curtis more than ready for a return to Ibrox.
