# Logistical drama for Iberia 1999 causes late confirmation for Larne tie – Rangers’ potential Europa League Playoff opponents

**FC Iberia 1999 have endured a logistical nightmare in travelling to Northern Ireland for the Europa League third qualifying round tie against Larne.**

The Georgian champions did not arrive at Belfast International Airport until around 0300 on Tuesday morning, less than 18 hours ahead of kick-off at Inver Park.

It has been reported that ‘paperwork issues’ prevented the travel party proceeding from Georgia on Sunday, directly creating a significant delay which cast doubt on whether the game would go ahead.

On X, the account [@GeorgianFooty](https://x.com/GeorgianFooty/status/2084506646294806582) described that “the intermediary company responsible for the charter of Iberia 1999 to Belfast simply didn’t fulfil their obligation.”

Larne will be seeking to take full advantage of the travel chaos in tonight’s first leg clash in County Antrim.

## Travel nightmare for Iberia 1999 travelling to Larne

UEFA’s regulations expect visiting teams to be on location at least 24 hours before the fixture, so that indiscretion may incur a warning or sanction.

However, the game goes ahead as scheduled, and fans can have a look at [Rangers’ potential opponents](https://readrangers.com/2026/08/03/rangers-europa-league-draw-opponents) in the Europa League Playoff round.

A trip to Northern Ireland for a competitive fixture would be wonderful for all at the club, but progression can’t be taken for granted.

Jagiellonia Bialystok will be a tough opponent at this stage of the competition and Derek McInnes’ team will need to be much improved from Friday in Dundee if they are to take a win into the second leg at Ibrox next week.

[Olwethu Makhanya will be available](https://readrangers.com/2026/08/04/glasgow-labour-mp-europa-league-rangers-makhanya) for duty in Poland following visa assistance from Glasgow South West MP, Dr Zubir Ahmed.
