# Rangers rocked by confirmation of double injury blow – direct impact on team for Jagiellonia

**Rangers have confirmed that Tuur Rommens is injured and set for a spell on the sidelines, on the same day that Youssef Chermiti was ruled out long-term with ACL damage.**

Youssef Chermiti out. Tuur Rommens out.

The dire start to the season continues.

At a time when Rangers clearly need additional first-choice players, it’s a massive blow to lose two existing key men.

It also has a direct knock-on effect for Thursday’s Europa League second leg against [Jagiellonia Bialystok](https://readrangers.com/2026/08/10/rangers-vs-jagiellonia-widzew-defeat-ibrox), with Derek McInnes likely to turn to Dujon Sterling for the left-back berth.

That would mean Ross McCrorie playing at right-back unless he’s unable to start.

What a mess.

## Two potential replacements for Tuur Rommens

As reported by [Rangers Review](https://www.rangersreview.co.uk/features/26456133.rangers-transfer-state-play-rommens-siquet-ryan-one/), it is hoped that the Belgian will be back sooner rather than later, unlike his teammate.

“Tuur Rommens has suffered a groin strain and will miss Rangers’ upcoming games through injury.”

“Rangers are hopeful the injury will see Rommens, 22, out for weeks instead of months.”

With [Ben Godfrey](https://readrangers.com/2026/08/03/ben-godfrey-rangers-injured-four-weeks-confirmed) already ruled out, it’s a defensive calamity for Rangers, at a time when the back line was already short on numbers.

Rangers have been looking at reinforcements, but that needs to be expedited now.

[James Penrice](https://readrangers.com/2026/08/10/rangers-transfer-news-driouech-nedeljkovic-penrice) and Jayden Meghoma are two names in the frame to provide cover at left-back and a deal needs to be wrapped up as soon as possible.

It will be too late for Thursday, but the rest come thick and fast after that.
