# Jayden Meghoma Rangers return latest after talks reported

**Jayden Meghoma has been linked with a return to Rangers, with Sky Sports’ Sahil Jaidka reporting active discussions with Brentford over a second successive loan for the 20-year-old left-back.**

According to [The 4th Official](https://rangersnewsfeed.com/rangers-eye-emergency-left-back-return-in-shock-loan-talks-good-deal/), the deal could even be done in time for [Sunday’s League Cup tie against St Mirren](https://readrangers.com/2026/07/31/rangers-august-schedule-confirmed-st-mirren) if terms are agreed.

The urgency is obvious. Tuur Rommens’ groin injury has left Derek McInnes without a recognised left-back, and the manager did not hide it this week, admitting Rangers “don’t have a left-footed defender in the building”.

Meghoma has been presented as a ready-made option, alongside [the club’s ongoing pursuit of James Penrice](https://readrangers.com/2026/08/10/rangers-transfer-news-driouech-nedeljkovic-penrice). That deal is said to be complicated by AEK Athens wanting a permanent sale with Rangers more open to a loan agreement.

## Conflicting reports – Jayden Meghoma Rangers latest

Supporters should note the reporting is not unanimous, as is standard with transfer speculation.

Some have claimed the conversation has been internal only, with no offer made and no talks with Brentford “at this stage”, but the public nature of the story suggests otherwise.

Meghoma spent last season on loan at Ibrox without nailing down a starting spot, and a return would be about depth as much as anything.

It would be a safe choice, while keeping the door open for the emergence of Ashton Scally.

Expect this one to move quickly, one way or the other.

A new option isn’t possible for the Jagiellonia game, but the games are coming thick and fast.

Derek McInnes could do with another left-back to choose from on Sunday against St.Mirren and the next round of European games thereafter.

Jayden Meghoma, James Penrice and others are in the frame. Expect movement very soon.
