# Derek McInnes describes the “action” that must unfold ahead of Rangers v St Mirren

**Derek McInnes has declared that the Rangers supporters must see action unfold against St Mirren on Sunday, but the one thing he needs more than anything else is a win.**

After four competitive games without a victory, the fans are getting restless and no wonder.

It’s not just the lack of wins, there’s nothing to hang your hat on just now.

Rangers have score one goal from open play in the four games, with chance creation at a premium. The football isn’t easy on the eye – but that wasn’t expected with McInnes. However, the organisational traits and the intensity are sorely missing.

Nothing on or off the ball, the alarm bells are ringing.

## Derek McInnes speaks ahead of Rangers v St Mirren

McInnes isn’t daft.

He sees what the fans see, but the need to enact change is pressing.

It’s OK to ask for more players, better players, but what are they coming into? A side that doesn’t know yet what it is, or what it’s supposed to be doing.

The season so far has been a major disappointment, exacerbated by the Europa League elimination at the hands of Jagiellonia Bialystok.

The harsh reality is that things are worse, just now, than last year under Russell Martin.

If a corner isn’t turned very soon, we could be heading for further turbulence.

### I quite understand the frustrations – McInnes

Derek McInnes was clear on the need to give the fans something to believe in.

“I think the fans need to see something to get behind. And they need to see action. And they need to see a team who are better than what they were the day, said the manager.

“I think there were wee moments and I think there were wee moments in the four games that were mentioned. But it’s nowhere near enough. So nobody is sitting here and asking for understanding and patience. I quite understand the frustrations of that.

“And as I said, it’s been more than just these four games that the frustration starts to build and it’s somewhere to vent that. But the fans should be seeing a better performance. And we’ll aim to give them that, added McInnes.

Ultimately, actions speak louder than words.

Wins buy time and that is those are the only things Rangers need. Now.
