# Bring him home – Rangers identify Vaclav Cerny for spectacular Ibrox return

**Rangers are said to have made an approach for a spectacular Ibrox return for Vaclav Cerny.**

The Czech winger would not come cheap, but you know what you’re getting, with Besiktas said to be holding out for around £8 million.

Beyond that, [Andy Newport’s story](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/rangers-launch-transfer-bid-bring-37573456) for the Daily Record claims that the 28-year-old is currently on a salary of around £2 million, meaning any potential deal is ‘in the balance’ given the numbers involved.

Some would say that it’s too much to pay for a player with limited resale value, but to counter that, Derek McInnes needs quality now.

Every deal is a risk to an extent, but this one feels different.

## Vaclav Cerny Rangers return – latest

In recent seasons, the club has spent ridiculous sums on the likes of Danilo, Jose Cifuentes, and Oscar Cortes.

For no real return.

Even the deal for Ryan Naderi, last January, cost around £5 million, and what value will be returned?

£8 million for Vaclav Cerny would be bold, but it would be a statement, and most importantly, a quality player for now.

At 28, he would hopefully be giving the peak of his career to Rangers, in an environment that he enjoyed, and would seemingly be open to returning to.

As ever, the money will talk. Between the transfer fee and wages, it will be substantial. If it’s Vaclav Cerny that Rangers want and he is deemed affordable, go and get him.
