# Rangers interest in Motherwell player ‘put to bed’

**Rangers are not pursuing Motherwell left-back [Emmanuel Longelo](https://readrangers.com/tag/emmanuel-longelo) and will not be signing the London-born player.**

On Monday, a report from Sacha Tavolieri had claimed Rangers were tracking Longelo, but it has been denied.

The Rangers Review ‘put to bed’ suggestions that Rangers were targeting another left-back, which seemed strange given that James Penrice is not long in the door.

Tuur Rommens will soon be on the comeback trail after his injury, while there are still hopes that Ashton Scally can begin to scale the pathway set for him.

The teenager is still sidelined, having been injured for all of pre-season.

## Motherwell’s Emmanuel Longelo linked with late window transfer

It is believed that Longelo could make a late move away from Fir Park, but he won’t be joining Rangers.

Some reports have claimed that Celtic are tracking him, but that remains to be seen.

Emmanuel Longelo will be familiar to Rangers fans after his goal contributed to Motherwell’s 3-2 win at Ibrox in the first game after the split last season.

That was the day the ball burst for Danny Rohl’s title aspirations, a hammer blow that Rangers never recovered from last term.

Emmanuel Longelo won’t be coming to Rangers, but it looks like [Kevin Kelsy](https://readrangers.com/2026/08/30/rangers-kevin-kelsy-one-step-closer) will be the next arrival of the current transfer window, which closes on Thursday.

The Venezuelan has commenced his medical, with only the final personal details to be ironed out after that.

All being well, the powerful striker could be in line to make an appearance at Ibrox on Saturday for the game against Motherwell.

Further updates are expected over the next couple of days.
