# Derek McInnes Historic Start Signals Rangers Premiership Title Momentum

## Derek McInnes Echoes Graeme Souness Era with Landmark Old Firm Record

Derek McInnes has done something no Ibrox manager has managed in 36 years.

He has won both of his first two Old Firm derbies in charge. Only Graeme Souness can say the same.

For supporters starved of control in these fixtures, that landmark matters.

It sits right at the heart of the Derek McInnes Rangers title charge this season, and it cuts through the usual noise around a new appointment.

Now, Rangers must push on.

The record has not come without blemishes. Dundee United earned a home draw against Rangers on the last day of July, holding McInnes’s side to a point in a game many expected Rangers to win. Hibernian then won at Ibrox Stadium on a Sunday afternoon, but bumps were expected.

The European debacle was not, and that put pressure on McInnes. He is now out the other side.

That stability must be harnessed through the October games, with the derby record providing a genuine springboard for momentum.

It gives McInnes credit in the bank, but it must be topped up.
