Rangers have taken all challenges in their stride at the beginning of this current campaign, remaining undefeated with victories in the Championship, the League Cup and the Petrofac Training Cup. The Light Blues will hope this pattern continues as they prepare for the Quarter Final of the Petrofac Training Cup with the draw taking place today, Thursday, at Hampden.
Mark Warburton’s side have been drawn at home to fellow Championship side Livingston, following their two nil victory at Ayr, goals coming from Nicky Clark and Barrie McKay. The quarter-final tie between the pair will be their second meeting in a month as the sides face off against one another in a league fixture at Ibrox on September 12th with the cup tie on October 10th.

Rangers will be confident going into the contest with their great start to the season a stark contrast to that of their opponents. Livingston have begun their Championship campaign with a 3-0 defeat away to Raith Rovers followed up by a 0-1 home defeat to Queen of the South and what is most concerning is that they are yet to record a league goal. Rangers on the other hand have already dispatched Hibs from the tournament, winning 2-6 in Round One at Easter Road, playing some of the best football the Ibrox faithful have seen for many seasons.
The priority for the Light Blues this season will undoubtedly be a return to the Premier League however a trophy for Mark Warburton and David Weir so soon into their tenure would be a great start, with the winner of the tie between Rangers and Livingston progressing to the semi finals Ibrox will be in good voice to cheer their team on.
