August saw Rangers get the 2015-16 season off to a flying start with 7 games and 7 victories for Mark Warburton’s men. The Light Blues recorded Championship victories at home to St Mirren and Hibs, away Championship victories to Alloa and Queen of the South, Petrofac Training Cup victory at Ayr Utd and League Cup victories over Peterhead and Airdrieonians.
Rangers have scored a blistering 24 goals this August while at the other end have only conceded a meagre 3 goals in what has been an almost perfect month with Mark Warburton getting some magic football on the pitch from his newly assembled squad.

Goals of the Month
3rd Place goes to Andy Halliday’s thunderbolt in the 5-0 victory at Airdrieonians in the League Cup. The goal came through some patient build up play from the Light Blues before Dean Shiels laid the ball off to Andy Halliday who controlled smartly on his right before crashing the ball home sweetly with his left foot into the far corner from just outside the box.
2nd Place goes to Barrie McKay’s finish to a wonderful team goal in Rangers 5-1 victory at Queen of the South in the Championship. Kenny Miller picked the ball up inside the opposition half, played a direct ball to Martyn Waghorn, who then lays it off to Miller who dinks the ball delightfully through for Waghorn before he squared to McKay to finish smartly.
1st Place goes to not only a technically brilliant goal but also vital in the context of the match and indeed the season. James Tavernier’s curling free kick from an impossible angle against Hibernian at Ibrox secured a 1-0 victory for Rangers and concreted their dominance at the beginning of the Championship season. The free kick was expertly curled from the left wing, over the keeper and into the far corner in what was certainly Read Rangers August goal of the month.
Players of the Month
3rd Place goes to Martyn Waghorn. The new front man has hit the ground running with 4 goals in 7 games during the month of August. Waghorn has worked tirelessly upfront as Rangers main striker, he has finished smartly and proven that penalties will be his domain this season. The former Wigan front man always gives 100% and has the shown the quality Gers fans enjoy watching up front.

2nd Place goes to Andy Halliday for his all round performances in midfield. As well as chipping in with 2 goals Halliday has been exemplary with his set piece delivery and been a consistent performer for Rangers throughout the month. The attacking full backs deployed by Mark Warburton has given the midfield more covering work to do which Halliday has came to terms with and dealt with when required.

The Player of the Month Award for August goes to James Tavernier for his wonderful performances in both attack and defence. The summer signing from Wigan has been a revelation from right back joining in attack at every opportunity which explains how he has popped up with 4 goals from defence. Tavernier has also proven that although attacking is his forte he can put a shift in at the back helping his defensive partners to four clean sheets in 7 games and restricting opponents to 3 goals in total for the month. James Tavernier has become an instant fan’s favourite due to his playing style and his attitude towards the club and the fans off the pitch; we hope it continues into September.
