Warburton expects a relaxed deadline day

In his press conference yesterday, Rangers manager Mark Warburton revealed he is still in the hunt for more faces to join the Ibrox ranks, but admitted that if that is to be the case, the club would NOT be dragged into a deadline-day dog fight.

Reports still see St. Johnstone’s Michael O’Halloran and Brentford’s Toumani Diagouraga at the top of the Ibrox club’s transfer targets, but Warburton confirmed that if they are to be brought in it will before the deadline day.

Most managers are gripped to their phones in a desperate bid to land last-minute business, but Warburton reckons he will be sitting watching Jim White’s infamous yellow tie with a glass of red wine.

The Rangers boss still hopes to land his targets, but remains confident of achieving the club’s goals this term even without new additions to the squad.

Warburton said:

“It’s enjoyable watching it all with your feet up and a nice glass of red wine in hand!

“If you’re looking at the last five or six hours of a window then you’re in trouble. If it’s down to the last hour then you are paying over the odds or you have the wrong player.

“I think about the housing market. If you panic on deadline day and rush into buying a house then you will have cause to look back and regret it.”

“You have this mix of agents, clubs, players and deadline days and it’s important that from a Rangers perspective we get our business done at a level we’re comfortable with and if not then step away.

“We’re making progress on a number of fronts and hopefully we’ll get them over the line. But if we don’t sign anyone I’m happy to go with what I’ve got.”

It seems there are deals expected to be completed by Rangers sooner rather than later, but rest easy Rangers fans, the deadline day drama will not affect our club this term – even if this is disappointing news for Jim Whyte.
