The ‘Gers dominated against Alloa but needed a late equaliser from new signing MICHAEL O’HALLORAN to rescue a point after Jason Marr had put the home side ahead. Rangers strung up 71% of possession, had 25 shots and 23 corners but could not find the net despite a flurry of late chances.

Warburton revealed: It’s highly frustrating. The players are in the dressing room angry and irate, but it about the group – it’s not about one player or a group of players, it’s about everyone together, and as a group of staff and players we are really frustrated today as for all the good work we did we didn’t get the end rewards.
“We have to be more clinical in front of goal to get the rewards for all of our good work.
“There was some great play. We could have been one-up after a minute, two-up after five and it could have been four or five at half-time – and that’s no disrespect to our opponent.
“Some of our interplay was really pleasing. It is a difficult surface –and that’s not an excuse in any way – but it is difficult and you find players taking an extra touch to control the ball, but in football you simply have to put the ball into the back of the net, and we created chance after chance.
“It’s the nature of the game. Sometimes you score five or six having not played so well, other times you play really well and only score one.
Warburton went on to praise O’Halloran on his goal scoring exploits on his first start for the Ibrox side:
“I’m really pleased for Michael and he looked really dangerous, and in particular in the last 10 to 15 minutes he was excellent.
“He got his reward, and as well as him, I thought Billy King came on and did really well on the left with good movement.
“There were some good performances today, but they won’t be remembered as good performances as we didn’t get the end product.”
Elsewhere in the Scottish championship, Hibernian and Falkirk both missed chances to claw back upon Rangers lead at the top of the table after drawing their respective fixtures.
