RANGERS let two points slip as they chase the Ladbrokes Championship title after a shock draw away at Alloa.
The Wasps were denied their first ever league win over the Glasgow giants as Jason Marr put them ahead but Michael O’Halloran leveled in the 83rd minute.
The Light Blues dominated the first half as Martyn Waghorn, Danny Wilson and James Tavernier were all denied by ex-Rangers keeper Scott Gallagher. The woodwork was also struck twice by Harry Forrester and Jason Holt.
Lee Wallaces’ cross struck Steven Hetherington on the arm inside the box but the referee waved away the penalty claims.
Andy Halliday picked out Holt inside the box on the brink of half-time, but Colin Hamilton made a superb tackle to break down the attack.
Rangers came close to opening the scoring shortly after the break as Forrester and Holt were denied, while at the other end, Alloa had their first shot on target in the 60th minute.
The home team scored from the corner following the shot when Marr headed in from inside the six-yard box on the 61st minute against the run of play.
Forrester, Billy King, Wilson and O’Halloran were all denied by Gallagher, but the latter levelled, as he seen his left-footed shot following a corner find the back of the net to score his first goal for Rangers since moving from St. Johnston.
Gallagher kept out two late efforts from Tavernier to stop Rangers taking the lead, securing a big point for the team bottom of the Championship.
