Danny Rohl gives rallying cry ahead of must-win Celtic Scottish Cup showdown

Rangers face rivals Celtic in the Scottish Cup quarter-final on Sunday, closing out consecutive games against their Glasgow neighbours.

Danny Rohl’s men gave up a 2-0 half-time lead to draw 2-2 last weekend after a bitterly disappointing second-half showing.

This latest draw marks the club’s third in their last four league games.

The run that has left the Gers six points back from Hearts on 57 points.

With Premiership games dwindling down fast, this weekend’s game against Celtic now represents what could be the club’s last hope of silverware this season.

Rohl delivered a spirited speech ahead of this must-win game against Celtic.

Danny Rohl’s motivating shout

Rohl said, “We have had a good week of training, the mindset is good, and we are fully focused on winning on Sunday.”

“We are ready to go again, and we have the belief to go and beat them.”

It’s not just the Celtic game that Rohl has his eyes set on.

The manager also has his focus set on long-term success at Ibrox.

“I want to be successful, I want to win, I want the club to be successful and bring the club forward.”

“Pressure in football is normal, especially within this club, and I have such a great honour to be the manager, and I want to win on Sunday.”

“As the Rangers manager, we must win trophies. We have a great opportunity on Sunday to step closer to one.”

All of this begs the question: is this Sunday’s match effectively the cup final?

With both Hearts and Motherwell already out of the Scottish Cup, this Sunday’s battle with Celtic feels particularly significant—almost like the cup final itself.

Falkirk play Dundee United, Dunfermline face Aberdeen, and St Mirren face Partick Thistle in the remaining quarter-finals.

All but Falkirk are in the Premiership’s bottom six or the lower Scottish leagues.

Falkirk have had a breakout season in the Premiership and pose a tough proposition for the Gers.

They drew 0-0 away in October, followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw at Ibrox in November.

Even so, in a potential cup final at Hampden Park, Rangers would be favored against any of the remaining teams in the competition.

As the Old Firm fast approaches, Gers fans will be buoyed by the news that Rohl has a full squad to pick from.

Rohl said, “We have a full squad in training at the moment.”

Connor Barron and Derek Cornelius are back in full training ahead of the weekend.

The question now is whether Rohl’s men will boost their silverware hopes on Sunday.
