How Danny Rohl has transformed Rangers winger Mikey Moore

Once mired in early-season disappointment, Danny Rohl has sparked a remarkable revival, restoring Rangers as contenders for silverware.

Rohl’s high-energy, high-pressure approach kick-started their season and the seasons of some of their most important players.

One player who has thrived under Rohl’s management is Tottenham Hotspur loanee Mikey Moore.

The young English winger was low on confidence under previous manager Russell Martin, but he’s grown into one of the most integral players in the squad.

Rangers face Celtic this weekend in the Scottish Cup quarterfinal, and he will be imperative again if they are to progress.

The 18-year-old has barely gotten his professional career started, sparking speculation about his next moves.

Moore’s shift under Rohl

Under the stewardship of Russell Martin at the beginning of the season, Moore was pigeonholed as a traditional touchline winger.

He struggled to consistently impact the game, having failed to meet the physical demands of Scottish football.

Rohl’s arrival in October fundamentally changed his role and output, creating the player we see today.

Rather than keeping him out wide, Rohl has deployed Moore as one of the two ‘10s’ in his system.

This has allowed him to play in more central pockets and pick up the ball in more dangerous areas.

Even in Rohl’s 4-2-3-1 set-up, Moore can roam, play inside and out, and dictate the game.

All five of his goals this season have come under Rohl, and he’s relishing becoming one of the main focal points in the Rangers team.

The teenager has played without fear and restrictions under Rohl.

Situation with Spurs

Rangers are keen on bringing Moore back for the 2026/27 season to continue his development with the club.

However, the situation at his parent club, Tottenham, is a cause of grave concern for Rangers fans and players.

Spurs currently sit one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League, with a return to the Championship a real possibility.

If Spurs do get relegated, Moore will be one of the key players to help the club get back into the Premier League.

Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood believes Spurs should do all they can to bring Moore back to North London.

Moore has grown tremendously in the Premiership with Rangers and is a true asset to Spurs if they are relegated.

However, Moore is fully focused on finishing a strong season with Rangers and winning a piece of silverware.
