Danny Rohl needs new midfield reinforcements, and Motherwell’s Elliot Watt would be the perfect signing.
Watt was exceptional for Motherwell against Celtic last weekend, showcasing his class against Rangers’ bitter rivals.
He made more accurate passes (76) than the whole of the Celtic midfield and more passes into the final third (10) than the Celtic midfield combined (7).
Elliot Watt has been a major force for his team this season, becoming a catalyst for their top-four push.
Rohl needs midfielders who can defend and offer a clinical edge in front of goal.
Watt has shown he can do both in abundance and needs to be a player on Rohl’s radar in the summer window.
The stats don’t lie
Elliot Watt primarily acts as a defensive midfielder, but he can also play in a more central role and join attacks on the edge of the box.
Even as a holding midfielder, Watt has scored four goals and provided three assists in 26 starts.
His goal against St Mirren at the start of the year was a taster for the type of goals he could score at Ibrox.
Danny Rohl wants a player who can win his physical duels and dictate the tempo of the game.
He has a pass completion of 86.9% and an accurate long ball percentage of 67.4%
The 26-year-old has also created 31 chances and completed 70.8% of his dribbles.
Defensively, Watt has made 195 recoveries, 51 tackles, and 30 interceptions.
Watt has the package of a complete midfielder who could transform the middle of the park for Rangers.
The Rangers connection and value
Rangers’ fans recently uncovered an old social media post from 2016 by Watt.
He displayed his support for the club before a Scottish Cup semifinal victory over Celtic at Hampden Park.
A Rangers supporter playing at the heart of the Gers midfield would resonate highly with the Ibrox faithful.
Some players take time to adjust to the physicality of Scottish football, but Watt has already proven his quality in the Premiership.
The Motherwell star is currently valued at around £1 million if the Gers are interested.
With prices rising extortionately for overseas players, Watt could be the bargain of the summer and fix a host of problems for Rohl.
If Rohl and the Gers want to challenge on all fronts next season, players like Elliot Watt will be essential for all-around success.

In the middle of the park, the Gers have somewhat struggled to find the balance between defence and attack.
Sometimes the gap between defence and midfield has been too wide, and the same can be said of midfield to attack.
Rohl has been crying out for a player who can do it all, and Elliot Watt fits that bill at a lower price than an overseas export, with no settling in period required for the unique demands of Scottish football.
