- PFA Scotland divisional Teams of the Year announced, with Premiership selection still to come.
- Emmanuel Fernandez, Nico Raskin and Mikey Moore pushing strong claims for Rangers inclusion.
- All three have been key under Danny Rohl, combining form, development and influence this season.
PFA Scotland have begun rolling out their divisional Teams of the Year, with players across the country casting votes to recognise the standout performers from the season.
The Trade Union of professional footballers in Scotland has already revealed its selections from the three lower division.
This has set the tone for the Premiership announcement to follow.
With that in mind, focus naturally shifts to Rangers, where a number of players have once again been central to their campaign and will feel they have strong claims for inclusion when the top-flight side is confirmed.
Here are three who could realistically feature in the Premiership Team of the Year.
Emmanuel Fernandez
The big Nigerian defender has had the sharpest rise of any potential inclusion across the division this season.
A regular from late November onwards, Fernandez has been a revelation under Danny Rohl, going from strength to strength since the German’s appointment.
Costing the club a reported £3.5m from Peterborough United in the summer, he has been linked with moves for up to £30m away from the club this summer.
A threat in forward areas with five goals in 22 Premiership games, he has also helped the Gers achieve nine clean sheets in that time.
Rohl has called the 24-year-old a “role model” for Rangers’ player development strategy.
The head coach also said: “He’s calm on the ball; he is getting better also against the ball. There’s a reason why I put him in, I trust him.
“I’m happy with his development and hope it continues because it’s the most important thing in football.
“It’s never about the past, it’s always about tomorrow.”
Nico Raskin
After being dropped from the side early in the season by former Rangers head coach Russell Martin, many suspected the Belgian’s time at Ibrox was drawing to a close.
“There was a point when it was tough and I had clear indication that my future was in doubt,” Raskin said about his fallout with the former Ibrox coach.
New boss Rohl sees Raskin as his on-field leader saying, “we trust each other” and that “he is my guy on the pitch” about the midfielder.
Under the former Sheffield Wednesday boss Raskin has been almost ever present and has improved week on week.
This has seen him regain his form and cement his place in the Belgian national side ahead of the World Cup.
He capped off his improvement with a superb goal against Falkirk in Rangers’ most recent fixture.
Mikey Moore
Another player who struggled under Martin. The 18-year-old Spurs loanee has also been a revelation since Rohl’s appointment, with his drive, pace and skilfulness propelling Rangers towards the title.
The boss called Mikey Moore a “top, top player” who has made “fantastic development” during his loan.
Moore has only six goals and two assists in the league.
He however, passes the eye test as Rangers most creative outlet.
He has created 33 big chances for the team and has a pass accuracy of 79%.
This is despite being close the opponents goal in tight areas regularly.
Other Rangers connections
Ibrox youngster Callum Burnside has made the best XI for League One, after an impressive loan with Alloa Athletic.
Former Rangers players Jason Holt, Robbie Fraser and Josh McPake have also made the Championship’s TotY.
Elsewhere, former academy graduate Joao Balde is included in the League Two side.
