- Danny Rohl insists his full focus remains on Rangers despite renewed Wolfsburg interest.
- Wolfsburg previously tried to appoint Rohl before Rangers blocked compensation talks with Sheffield Wednesday.
- Rangers boss says his priority is winning trophies and success at Ibrox before the Old Firm clash.
Linked heavily with a return to Germany in recent weeks, Danny Rohl insists his full focus remains on Rangers ahead of Sunday’s massive Old Firm clash against Celtic.
The Rangers manager has emerged once again as a target for struggling Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.
The German side are all but certain to be relegated and are searching for a long-term rebuild figure.
Previous interest in Danny Rohl
Wolfsburg also attempted to appoint Rohl last summer but failed to strike an agreement on compensation with Sheffield Wednesday.
At the time, the German coach openly admitted that managing in the Bundesliga remained a major ambition.
Asked by Bild when he would like to work in Germany’s top flight, Rohl said: “If it were up to me, as soon as possible.
“The Bundesliga is obviously something special because I grew up with it.
“For me, it’s always about working at the highest level.
“I want to compete against the best teams, with the best coaches.”
Those comments inevitably resurfaced this week following renewed speculation surrounding his future, particularly after Rangers’ damaging defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle on Monday night.
Commitment to Rangers
However, speaking ahead of this weekend’s derby, Rohl attempted to shut down the noise and insisted his attention remains solely on delivering success at Ibrox.
“The message for my players after the game was just to focus on the next game,” he said.
“I was disappointed after Monday, as we had worked so hard for the last six months to get to this point.
“My full focus is on Rangers, as I have one focus, to win trophies and bring success to the club.”

Despite Rangers falling out of the title race following defeat in Edinburgh, the Old Firm encounter still carries huge significance.
Victory at Celtic Park would not only restore some pride after a frustrating week but could also deal a major blow to Celtic’s own championship hopes.
With uncertainty surrounding several players and speculation now growing around the manager himself, the coming weeks are shaping up to be pivotal both on and off the pitch for Rangers.
