- Rangers will travel to face Celtic on Sunday in last Old Firm of 2025/26
- The Gers go into the match having lost their last two league matches
- Danny Rohl’s men can equal record not achieved in 34 years
Rangers will have the opportunity to return to winning ways when they face Celtic at Parkhead for the final Old Firm derby of the season.
The meeting with Celtic is the Gers’ first match since they all but crashed out of the Scottish Premiership title race.
All eyes will be on Rangers to see if they can recover from the disappointing setback and put a dent in their derby rivals’ own title aspirations.
Winning last two league visits opens chance to end 34-year wait
Rangers have won the last two league encounters at Celtic Park, coming away victorious in the 3-1 result in January and in March last year with a 3-2 win.
The Gers’ recent results at Parkhead witnessed the end of Celtic’s dominance with derbies at their home ground.
The record from the last 19 Old Firm’s that have taken place at Celtic Park stands at two Rangers wins, 13 for Celtic and four draws.
But what makes the match on Sunday interesting is that a third consecutive away derby victory in the league for Rangers will match a record last met by an Ibrox great.
The last time Rangers won three in-a-row at Parkhead was in November 1992 under Walter Smith.
The Gers have not been able to achieve that in the nearly three-and-a-half decades since and victory tomorrow would change that.
Danny Rohl can become second Rangers manager to achieve feat
The German, who will be looking for strong performances from his squad on Sunday can also achieve what only one Rangers manager has succeeded at before.
That is to become the second manager in the club’s history to win their first two away league matches at Celtic after Walter Smith.
A victory would mean that Rangers remain in contention for second place and Champions League qualification.
But not only that, it would hit back at some of the criticism that has been levelled at Rohl of late which is that his record in the ‘big games’ is not good enough.

What these statistics show is that there is more to the need for Rangers to return to winning ways on Sunday afternoon.
The Gers have been successful in their last two away derbies in the league and they need to take advantage and belief from that.
Whereas, for the manager, a win would go a long way in easing the pressure from the Rangers’ support and prove he can deliver in a high-stakes game.
