Rangers Transfer Window 2026 Talking Points & Facts – 13th July

Derek McInnes is six weeks into life as Rangers head coach, and the shape of his first Ibrox squad is starting to settle even as two long-serving names edge towards the exit and the chase for further midfield reinforcements drags into a second month.

With the Scottish Premiership opener at Dundee United now 18 days away, the balancing act facing McInnes and the recruitment team of Dan Purdy and Jim Gillespie is a familiar one for early July: back six confirmed arrivals with the right departures, close out at least one more midfield addition, and have a settled first XI in place before Tannadice on July 31.

Six deals are done. Two senior squad players look set to leave. And the year’s two most-tracked midfield targets are still unresolved a month out from kick-off – so where exactly do Rangers stand on the 13th of July?

Who have Rangers signed so far this summer?

Rangers have made six additions since Derek McInnes succeeded Danny Röhl in June: Cammy Devlin and Lawrence Shankland arrived from Hearts, Dan Neil joined on a free transfer from Sunderland, Ivor Pandur signed from Hull City, Ross McCrorie returned to Ibrox, and Ben Godfrey joined on loan from Atalanta. Speaking to the Rangers Review this week, McInnes praised the board for its “encouragement” during the window, while stressing the budget “is not unlimited” and that the squad taking on Dundee United “will be a wee bit different” to the one training in Spain right now, with further arrivals still expected before deadline day.

Who could still leave Ibrox this summer?

Two recognised first-team names have been left out of Rangers’ pre-season camp in Spain: centre-back John Souttar and forward Danilo. Neither departure is confirmed by the club, but both are reported to be expected to move on, with Souttar attracting interest from England and Danilo linked with clubs in the Eredivisie and Greek Super League.

Who are Rangers still trying to sign?

Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojevic and Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl remain the two names most consistently linked with Ibrox, with Hjerto-Dahl’s valuation still being negotiated between the two clubs. McInnes says his recruitment staff are in “constant dialogue” on incomings, while closed-door friendlies have doubled as a fresh audit of squad depth heading into the business end of the window.

When do Rangers kick off the 2026-27 season?

Rangers open their Scottish Premiership campaign away to Dundee United on Friday, July 31, live on Sky Sports. Before then, two friendlies at Ibrox complete pre-season: Saint-Etienne on Wednesday, July 22, and West Ham United on Sunday, July 26 at 4pm, with Rangers currently training in Spain having moved their camp there after plans for Austria under the previous regime were scrapped.

Tickets for the West Ham friendly are priced at £25 for adults, £20 for concessions and £5 for juniors, with the club’s Edmiston House fanzone returning for pre-match activity on both dates. It is the kind of full-house dress rehearsal McInnes wants before a Premiership campaign that follows last season’s third-place finish, with Rangers determined to close the gap on the sides above them from the opening weekend.
