Rangers face a fresh challenger for John Souttar’s signature and a growing queue of suitors for Nicolas Raskin as Derek McInnes’ Ibrox rebuild gathers pace.
According to Sky Sports, Leicester City remain keen on reuniting with Souttar under former Rangers boss Russell Martin, though the broadcaster’s transfer centre says several Championship clubs are also monitoring the centre-back’s situation. Reports from the72.co.uk and via The Sun go further, claiming Sheffield United have now moved ahead in the race. The 29-year-old was left out of McInnes’ pre-season training camp in Spain this week, with no fee or move confirmed by either club.
Raskin’s Suitors Grow As Rangers Hold Firm On Valuation
Rangers rejected an opening bid in the region of £12-14m from Hull City for Nicolas Raskin, with Ibrox holding out for a fee in excess of £20m following the Belgium international’s performances at the World Cup. According to Rangers Review, Atalanta and Real Betis have both registered interest in the 25-year-old, adding to competition from Bologna. Rangers are not actively looking to sell but will not stand in Raskin’s way should he push for an exit.
With Souttar’s future uncertain and Raskin’s valuation climbing, McInnes’ summer rebuild looks set to bring in significant funds as Rangers prepare for the July 31 Premiership opener away to Dundee United.
