Take the money and run – reported £4.79m bid for Rangers midfielder seems too good to be true

Corum FK in Turkey are said to have made a £4.79 million bid for Mohamed Diomande, with the Ivorian set to travel to Istanbul tomorrow.

That is the word from reporter Ertan Suzgun, who first revealed the interest from the top-flight club earlier on Sunday.

He later detailed that Diomande is set to travel for final contract talks and a medical, while Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu stated that a bid worth €5.6m (£4.79m) had been sent to Ibrox.

That seems almost too good to be true, especially in the current climate at Ibrox, and cannot be turned down.

Derek McInnes alludes to Diomande interest

In the post-match presser after Hibs, Derek McInnes appeared to allude to transfer interest in the 24-year-old, without confirming it, when asked about interest from Turkey:

“I don’t know about that. I think there may be some conversations going on about that.

“I don’t know if there’s been an official bid or anything like that. But I think I can’t really comment on it, to be honest.”

Time is right for Mohamed Diomande sale

This summer, Rangers have recruited heavily in the centre midfield position.

Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin and Vanja Dragojevic have joined the club, while Tochi Chukwuani was signed in January.

Nico Raskin is back in the team and continues to carry importance, even if he is expected to leave in the coming weeks. Thelo Aasgaard can be put in the picture as well.

Connor Barron has been playing catch-up after pre-season due to injury, but he wasn’t involved in the damaging defeat against Hibs on Sunday.

Derek McInnes refused to ask for time after the latest setback.

With two years remaining on his deal, now is the ‘best’ time for Mohamed Diomande to leave the club.

He has contributed, and was central to the opener in Bialystok last Thursday, but he hasn’t excelled in his time at Ibrox, nor has he improved to a significant extent since his arrival in January 2024.

Take the deal, shake hands and move on.
