Rangers are said to have rejected a massive £22 million bid from Galatasaray for Youssef Chermiti, as the transfer window further intensifies.
The breaking news comes from Chris Jack at the Rangers Review, after days of focus on the club’s bid to add wingers to the squad.
The news of a serious bid from Turkey doesn’t come as a surprise, with Galatasaray and Besiktas known to be tracking the Portugal Under-21 international.
This developing, intriguing situation could trigger a bidding war in Istanbul and create another significant issue with Derek McInnes’ squad if Chermiti needs to be replaced.
Rangers reject Galatasaray offer for Chermiti
It has been reported that the offer was made over the weekend, but the potential club-record sale was turned down.
Every player has their price but Rangers seem to be holding out for a blockbuster fee to part with one of their main assets.
The exclusive from Chris Jack stated:
“The move would have eclipsed Calvin Bassey’s £20million sale to Ajax in 2023 and banked Rangers a significant profit on the fee paid to Everton just 12 months ago.
“But the blockbuster deal was immediately thrown out by the Ibrox hierarchy, who have no intention of selling the striker anywhere near that price point.”
£22m has been rejected, and from the sound of that briefing, £25m won’t seal the deal.
That would surely mean Rangers holding out for an incredible offer somewhere in the region of £30 million for Youssef Chermiti.
Wow.
