Rangers vs St Mirren at Ibrox on Sunday hands Derek McInnes his next chance to claim an overdue first win of the season.
He goes into the Premier Sports League Cup second-round tie with a badly stretched squad.
The Scotsman reports seven players are out and one is a doubt for the 4pm kick-off at Ibrox, with the manager weighing changes after Thursday’s horrendous Europa League exit.
McInnes has not won any of his first four competitive matches, a run that hit its lowest point in midweek when a 1-1 draw sent the Gers out of Europa League qualifying 3-2 on aggregate to Jagiellonia Bialystok.

St Mirren, by contrast, travel to Ibrox as holders of the trophy, a point flagged by BBC Radio Scotland’s Scottish Football Podcast.
Rangers vs St Mirren injury list
Two of the biggest absences are well known. Youssef Chermiti faces a significant spell out after the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered against Hibernian, while Tuur Rommens is sidelined for up to eight weeks with a groin problem – the double injury blow the club confirmed last week.
With no senior left-back available, it could be three at the back once again, while a reported loan move for former Hearts full-back James Penrice is not yet confirmed.
McInnes, speaking to BBC Sport after the exit, knows the mood has to change fast.
We need to get more quality, we need to get more confidence into the team …We have to get things moving in the right way quickly, he said.
A win would at least get McInnes off the mark and he needs it. Lose and it’s a real crisis at Ibrox.
Confirmed team news will follow on Sunday.
