What is Jed York’s role at Rangers?

Jed York, a co-owner of Rangers and majority owner of the San Francisco 49ers, has pled no contest following his arrest in Ohio on suspicion of engaging in prostitution, plus ‘possessing criminal tools’.

The charge was later amended to disorderly conduct.

As reported by the Herald, the 46-year-old was sentenced to one day in prison for each count, which is due to be served concurrently.

Jed York was also hit with fines totalling $1150, with a bond price set at $5000.

A no contest plea has been recorded. This is not an admission of guilt, but the defendant does accept the punishment for the alleged crimes.

What is Jed York’s relationship with Rangers?

As well as owning the San Francisco 49ers, Jed York is an important figure in 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of the NFL franchise which acquired a majority stake in the Rangers in May last year.

Officially, Jed York is a co-owner of Rangers, but he has no significant input on the day-to-day running of the club.

He is part of the investor consortium within the entity that is Rangers FC LLC.

“As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time,” the 49ers said in a statement.

This incident will have no impact on Rangers FC, but any further developments regarding Jed York will be confirmed via official channels.
