Minsu Kim has posted on social media, vowing to return to the South Korea national team setup as a better player.
He has had a taste of the big time and he clearly wants more.
That is an exciting prospect for Rangers.
When speaking to others in recent weeks about the Rangers resurgence post-Jablonec, one of the things that came back to me was quality.
Minsu Kim hasn’t recorded much of an impact so far in terms of goals and direct assists, but his performances have passed the eye test quite easily.
Look at the win at Parkhead, for example.
Occupying a wide right berth, he posed a threat throughout and was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions.
His first half-effort should have been a goal, but Ryan Naderi’s goal did come from the Korean’s initial effort.
Minsu Kim is about to explode into the headlines for Rangers. There’s a prediction for you.
Iβll return to my club and grow even more – Minsu Kim
Minsu Kim has realised a long-held dream with his call up to the South Korea senior squad.
He made a solid impression in the games against Uruguay and then Kevin Kelsy’s Venezuela, before he was spared in the final game of the international period against Uzbekistan.
He needs to win the right to retain his place in the squad and the only way he can do that is by shining for Rangers – and that is what the player is determined to do.
Writing on his Instagram account, Minsu Kim stated:
“From the days when I was kicking a ball alone in Spain, this was a moment I had always pictured in my heart.
“Standing there in the national team uniform, listening to the national anthem – I donβt think Iβll ever easily forget that time.
“Everything felt unfamiliar at first because it was my first time, but thanks to the manager, the coaching staff, and the older players, I blended in quickly.
“Even though it was a short period, I learned so much, and I clearly realized how much further I still need to climb. Iβm grateful to my family, who have always believed in me, and to everyone who cheered me on.
“Now Iβll return to my club and grow even more. The next time I stand in this place again, Iβll show you a better version of myself.”
The next few weeks can’t come quick enough for all of us, starting with Kilmarnock on Saturday.
