Rangers Transfer News: Inside the £8.5m Kim Min-su Gamble and Late Window Push

Min-su Kim

In the latest Rangers Transfer News, the club is known to have advanced into personal terms with Girona winger Kim Min-su after triggering the player’s £8.5m release clause.

The player is believed to have travelled to the UK already.

The prospective transfer represents a major financial commitment for the 20-year-old, whose senior minutes have primarily come from loan spells at FC Andorra.

Speaking on the Rangers Review Morning Briefing, Blair Malloy acknowledged the scale of the investment, stating, “It’s an expensive gamble.”

The £8.5m Gamble: Breaking Down the Kim Min-su Deal

Malloy explained the faith required in the current strategy, adding:

“You have to have that belief that the recruitment system, if they are going to invest this heavily in a guy in a key position that they need, then they obviously think that he’s going to be an asset not just now, but he’s going to be one they can make money on in the future.”

All signings are a gamble to an extent, but this one appears very risky for a talented player who hasn’t featured at top-team level outside Spain.

While he has no significant top-flight experience, coming to the SPFL Premiership from La Liga 2 shouldn’t be an issue.

Rangers Ongoing Striker Chase

Securing Kim Min-su is not the sole focus for Rangers before the window shuts.

The club remains keen on adding another winger and a centre-forward, with negotiations continuing over target Kevin Kelsy. Links to Rayan Fofana have been cooled.

Outgoing transfer activity will also increase ahead of the deadline.

Balancing Transfers with Europa League Ambitions

Immediate attention now turns to continental competition as Rangers head to the Czech Republic on Thursday, aiming to build upon last week’s qualifying advantage.

Derek McInnes is expected to field a largely familiar line-up, though new signing Nedeljkovic could start at right-back while forward Ryan Nadiri looks to continue his scoring momentum.
