Derek McInnes Gambles On Youthful Rangers Lineup For Celtic Cup Tie

Rangers manager Derek McInnes has named an inexperienced attacking lineup for the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final against Celtic at Ibrox, making a single change following their midweek victory.

Minsu Kim replaces Badredine Bouanani on the right flank to support striker Kevin Kelsy. Ryan Don Naderi operates centrally alongside left-winger Djeidi Gassama, forming a frontline entirely devoid of Glasgow derby heritage. The selection leaves established figures on the substitutes bench, passing up the opportunity to start Bojan Miovski and Ross McCrorie in the high-stakes domestic fixture.

Visitors Bolster Defensive Line

The youthful Rangers attack must navigate a reinforced Celtic defensive unit. Visiting manager Martin O’Neill has made four alterations to the side that defeated St Johnstone four days ago. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kieran Tierney return to the starting lineup, replacing Dane Murray and Auston Trusty to add immediate physical intensity to the backline.

In central midfield, Nicolas Raskin and Daniel Neil retain their starting roles and face the task of managing possession against Celtic captain Callum McGregor. The midfield battle will dictate whether McInnes can successfully restructure his forward options to secure a domestic semi-final place.

With no away supporters permitted inside the stadium, the hosts will aim to exploit reshuffled wide areas. The quarter-final winner advances to the national stadium for next month’s semi-final draw.
