Rangers striker Ryan Naderi is on the brink of a call-up to the senior Czechia squad ahead of the upcoming international period.
Fresh from his very energetic and effective performance against Celtic in the Premier Sports League Cup win, the former Hansa Rostock man has done enough to receive full honours at international level.
However, Naderi won’t be playing for the country of his birth, Germany.
Instead, he will commit his international future to Czechia, having declined interest from Bulgaria.
Why is Ryan Naderi playing for Czechia?
The workhorse frontman caught the eye for Rangers against Celtic, putting in a typical industrious performance but it wasn’t just that he worked hard, Ryan Naderi was very good for the team.
Work rate, intensity, aggression, team play – it was all on display.
However, why is he getting a call-up for Czechia?
As detailed by the Rangers Review, Ryan Naderi qualifies for Czechia through his mother. He speaks the Czech language and his grandmother still lives in the central European country.
His father hails from Bulgaria, making him eligible for the eastern European nation but Naderi has turned down their advances.
In the absence of a call from Germany, which isn’t likely at this stage of his career, the Dresden-born striker is declaring his international football allegiance for Czechia.
