Rangers pair Liam Kelly and Findlay Curtis have retained their international places after new Scotland head coach Sebastien Pocognoli named his first national squad.
Steep Hurdle For Domestic Talent
Pocognoli omitted James Penrice despite the defender enjoying a strong start to his Ibrox career under manager Derek McInnes following a recent transfer from AEK Athens.
The omission presents a clear tactical challenge for domestic recognition. Pocognoli opted for established international full-backs, selecting Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney, and Sassuolo defender Josh Doig instead of the Rangers left-back.
McInnes has aggressively reshaped his squad during the opening months of the domestic campaign, a standard underlined by one recent midfield loan departure. The club have also navigated ongoing defensive adjustments, which recently included a costly financial compromise regarding central defender John Souttar.
Former Academy Products Selected
The broader Scotland setup features a recall for former Ibrox academy striker Robbie Ure, who could earn his first full cap following a transfer to Spanish side Sevilla.
Fellow youth graduates Nathan Patterson and Josh McPake are also included in the national training squad.
Current Rangers forward Lawrence Shankland will miss the upcoming international fixtures after being sidelined with a hamstring issue.
Scotland face Slovenia in the Nations League on 26 September. Rangers next visit Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on 20 September.
