Andy Halliday has thanked referee Bobby Madden after admitting that the official apologised to him for sending him against Hibs in December.
The Scotsman was shown a red card after a clash with Fraser Fyvie, but the SFA overturned his ban, and the Easter Road midfielder received a two game ban for simulation.
However the Gers favourite, who was again cruelly sent-off in the game against Morton last month, acknowledged that he shouldn’t have got involved with Fyvie, but praised Madden for saying sorry after the draw with Kilmarnock on Saturday.
Speaking to the official Rangers website, he said: “Bobby Madden was the referee at the weekend and he was the first one to come up to me after the game to apologise for sending me off against Hibs, which I thought was a great credit to him.
“Sometimes you don’t see that, and even a thing as simple as saying ‘sorry’ made me feel a lot better, and it just shows you that referees can make mistakes as well.
“That’s the case with the sending-off against Morton too which I thought was ridiculous, although obviously I can’t go too much into that.
“With the Hibs sending off though, I made a mistake as well. I retaliated in the first place which probably put me in the situation where I could have been shown a red card.
“And like I said, I think Bobby deserves a lot of credit for coming and apologising for that. It does take a lot to come and say sorry as sometimes you don’t want to admit that you’ve made a mistake.
“But we are all humans and we all make mistakes. I think he is a very good referee though and I have a lot of respect for him.”
