Gerrard wants to bring Burke to Ibrox

Steven Gerrard is reportedly looking to sign West Ham’s youngster Reece Burke, as the former England captain wants to build his own squad at Rangers, according to The Mirror.

Earlier in the week, Gerrard made the first signing of his era, as he brought in Scott Arfield from Burnley.

But now he sees Reece Burke as a potential Rangers player and wants to bring him to Ibrox from his boyhood club, West Ham.

It just remains to be seen whether the Hammers wish to cash in on Burke now, or whether to send him out on loan again, but it is believed that Gerrard wants him on a permanent deal.

Burke has been impressive while on loan at Championship side Bolton Wanderers, and he was an integral part of Wanderers staying up on the last day of the season.

However, his impressive performances in a Bolton and West Ham shirt have attracted further interest, with Gerrard facing competition from Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, who wish to secure a loan deal for Burke.

But Leeds United, Reading and Aston Villa reportedly have the same idea as the Liverpool legend and wish to secure him on a permanent deal.
