Rangers braced for impact of massive Danny Rohl decision

Danny Rohl has opted for two changes today as Rangers host Celtic in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.

Nasser Djiga replaces John Souttar, while Mo Diomande comes in for Tochi Chukwuani, with the rest of the team unchanged.

It appears to be the same 4-2-2-2, and while that gives a platform to attack, Rangers will need to be much better for the duration, and off the ball in particular.

Celtic’s second-half performance last week will have given Danny Rohl plenty to think about.

Just seven days after the bitterly disappointing draw against their Old Firm rivals, there is more than a Hampden date on the line for the Gers.

For 50 minutes of the league encounter last Sunday, Rohl’s team were dominant, aggressive, and dangerous, but ultimately, it didn’t culminate in the three points that truly mattered.

Today is a different occasion, but arguably, the stakes are higher.

Win, and Rangers are strong favourites to win the Scottish Cup with the German head coach already underlining the importance of a trophy in his first season.

A second derby success of the 2025/26 campaign would also breathe new life into Rangers stuttering SPFL Premiership title hopes, after three draws in the last four outings.

Failure could be fatal for Rangers

Conversely, if Celtic prevail at Ibrox in front of 7,500 of their own fans, it could have dangerous implications for the rest of the season.

Out of the Scottish Cup and trailing Celtic and Hearts, the mentality and mettle would be further questioned.

Rangers and Rohl can’t afford for that to happen.

It’s all on the line today with so much to play for. Winning is all that matters.
