  • The SPFL Premiership is heating up to be one of the best ever
  • Sky Sports have the perfect opportunity to produce a day that fans won’t forget
  • The broadcasters have an ace up their sleeve on the final day

This season’s Scottish Premiership title race has been one of the most exciting races in recent history.

Rangers and Celtic are chasing the unlikely leaders of Hearts, with three and five points separating the teams, respectively.

In most seasons prior, football fans south of the border have paid little interest to what’s going on in Scotland.

However, this season, the three-horse title race has been spoken about across the UK.

With that in mind, Sky Sports will be eager to keep football fans across the UK on their channels to watch the drama unfold.

The Premiership also has one ace up its sleeve that will drive viewership for the final games on Saturday 16 May.

Sky Sports set for SPFL Premiership finale

The Premier League is obviously the most popular product on the Sky Sports channels.

However, the SPFL Premiership finale will unfold on May 16 and no Premier League clubs will be playing on that day.

May 16, 2026, is the day of the English FA Cup final, which means the Premier League cannot clash on that day.

With the FA Cup final being shown on TNT Sports and terrestrial TV, Sky Sports has the perfect opportunity to showcase all the drama.

The fixtures haven’t been announced for the end of season split, but we do know the final games kick off at 12:30pm.

It’s set up for Sky Sports to produce the perfect TV showdown where football fans can keep tabs on all three teams.

There is no question that, in modern history, the Premiership title race has been played out by Rangers and Celtic.

The last team other than Rangers or Celtic to win the Premiership was Sir Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen in 1985.

We all want Rangers to secure the title, but for the neutral, Hearts being in the conversation is history.

Both Rangers and Celtic have suffered managerial woes this season that have led to the emergence of Hearts.

Rangers struggled at the beginning of the season under Russell Martin, drawing far too many games.

While Celtic risked their season with the acquisition of Wilfried Nancy, who failed miserably at Celtic Park.

Under Danny Rohl, Rangers have managed to steady the ship and re-emerge as one of the title favourites.

The Gers have won their last two and emphatically beat Aberdeen to enter the international break.

Hearts have done an extraordinary job to withstand the pressure and stay at the top of the table.

However, Rangers seem to be finding form at the right time as we approach the business end of the season.
