  • Rangers Women beat Celtic 3-0, extending unbeaten run in the fixture to 11 games.
  • Katie Wilkinson scored a hat-trick, taking her SWPL tally to 27 goals this season.
  • Rangers stay close to Hearts in the table, with a chance to top the league at Ibrox on April 24.

Rangers women continued their dominance over Celtic with a crushing 3-0 win at New Douglas Park.

Leanne Crichton’s side are now 11 unbeaten against Celtic, and, just like their male counterparts, are a point of league leaders Hearts.

The Jambos took the summit with a win over Glasgow City, but Rangers responded with an emphatic victory away to Grant Scott’s Celtic to close the gap.

Katie Wilkinson nets hat-trick

Katie Wilkinson took her SWPL tally for the season to 27 with a hat-trick.

She netted a penalty, free kick and a looping header to ensure Rangers incredible record in this fixture continued.

Speaking to Rangers TV, she said: “The free kick is up there for me in terms of my goals for Rangers.

“had to make sure I got it on target. There was a good bit of pace on the ball, so I was buzzing it went in.

“It’s a big three points for us first and foremost, away from home as well. I thought all over the pitch there were some massive performances and I am just glad to be able to help.

“The clean sheet is massive. Sometimes in these types of games, you don’t get the performance, but I thought we had it all.

“We know what it means to all the Rangers supporters. We want to win every game, but there is a bit of extra grit in these types of games.”

Old Firm dominance

Her manager, Crichton, has now secured four wins from four over Celtic as Gers boss since her summer appointment.

“We have always felt in these types of games this season that we have probably shot ourselves in the foot and conceded too many cheap moments, given teams too much incentive to get us.

“It was important that we started with that control and level of game management,” Crichton explained.

“We know the Old Firm can be a fierce encounter and both sets of players enjoy the fixture which we would never try and take that away from them, but it was just the level of control and the game management that was important.

“We have been striving for consistency this season and today was one of those good days.”

Rangers have the chance to take the summit of the SWPL at Ibrox on April 24, as Hearts visit.

A victory over the Jambos would place the women atop the table ahead of the final four fixtures.

These include a penultimate home Old Firm against Celtic on May 17, before a potential title decider against Glasgow City at Petershill park on May 24.
