Rangers are tracking Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt, who has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 33 appearances on loan at Hull City in the English Championship.
The 23-year-old fits the profile of a Danny Rohl signing.
Despite being smaller in stature than Ryan Naderi and Youssef Chermiti, standing 5 foot 9, but he is physical.
Rangers had chased fellow Leeds striker Joel Piroe in January before signing Naderi on deadline day.
Women prepare for Old Firm clash
Rangers’ Women can go within a point of SWPL leaders Hearts with a win over Celtic this evening.
Leanne Crichton’s side are unbeaten in their previous 10 Old Firm clashes, and after the Jambos defeated Glasgow City last night, they can edge even closer to the summit.
Rangers bounced back from Sky Sports Cup final heartbreak with a midweek win over Partick Thistle and can now overtake the Cup winners’ City and move into second place with a win over their oldest rivals.

Press conference comments
Crichton looked ahead to the crucial match after the win over Thistle last time out.
“It is the Old Firm so you are pretty ready and good to go as is,” she said on her squad.
“You just need to speak about that fixture, and everybody has got the tails up.
“We will give them a couple of days off, hopefully they can rest and recharge them, some will be in tomorrow and do a little bit extra.
“Those that need a bit of treatment off the back of the last couple of games will do that and then we’ll have a good strong two-day lead into Celtic.
“A couple of months ago if we had been given this opportunity and thought we would find ourselves in this spot we’d absolutely have taken your hand off for it.
“We are in a good spot, but we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves we know how quickly things can change and we are just lookingup the table and trying to keep on the coattails of the teams that are leading.”
Midfielder Jodi McLeary told Rangers TV that she is relishing the challenge tonight.
“For me personally, it is the one that I look at first to see when we are playing against Celtic,” she explained.
“It is the same as most of the girls who are here; we have grown up as fans.
“It is a fixture that I love personally. I think it brings that wee bit of edge with it being a derby, but when we have played Celtic in the last couple of seasons, we have really stepped up to the challenge, and we have had successful results.
“Hopefully, come Monday night, we have done enough to do the same again.”
Champions League boost for Rangers
Rangers have inched closer to an automatic place in the UEFA Champions League’ group stages thanks to a result in Greece.
Olympiakos lost 1-0 at home to AEK Athens and now trail their visitors by five points in the Greek title race.
Should Olympiakos not win the title, and Rangers win the Premiership, they will be the top ranked team for the final automatic group stage spot available.
This would provide a significant boost to Rohl’s summer preparations, providing more training time without qualifiers and a boost to the transfer budget.
Rangers lose top spot
The Jambos made heavy weather of the match but managed to leave West Lothian with a point to retake the lead.
Elsewhere, third-placed Celtic kept tabs with the top two with a late 2-1 win over ten-man Dundee.
