- Rangers recovered from two goals down to cruise past Falkirk
- Gers return to within a point of league leaders Hearts
- Danny Rohl’s men are 16 league matches unbeaten
Rangers produced the mother of all comebacks as they recovered from two goals down to revive their title hopes.
Goals from Ben Broggio and Finn Yeates for Falkirk had the Bairns set up for a shock win but Chuckwuani pulled one back before the break.
What followed were braces from Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski as well as a goal from Nico Raskin as Rangers ran riot.
Rangers restore their one point deficit on the league summit ahead of the split.
Rangers pull controversial goal back in first-half horror show
Rangers found themselves with a mountain to climb after Broggio and Yeates fired Falkirk into a two-goal lead inside half an hour.
The Gers’ were lacklustre all over the pitch with diabolical defending on display.
There was a lack of leaders on the pitch, so much so that you would be forgiven for believing that Rangers were not in a title race.
Rangers’ did cut the deficit on the stroke of the interval thanks to Chukwuani, although Falkirk claimed that the cross was out of play, but the performance was night and day from a team looking to win a title.
Nico Raskin dominates resounding Rangers second-half show
How to be a fly on the wall at half time for Danny Rohl’s team talk because whatever he said, it worked.
Dominance, leadership, everything that was not evident in the first half was apparent as Rangers proved that they are more than up for a title challenge.
Chermiti’s brace shows that he can deliver when it is needed and Miovski’s second and third goal in the space of two games sends a clear message that he believes he can lead the line in the next ‘five finals’.
However, Raskin’s strong performance in midfield was the shining light in the second-half with his goal hauling Rangers’ in front as well as his assist in the one that followed.
Falkirk did score a third through a penalty after an unnecessary foul from Tavernier, but that should not take away from the scintillating performance.
The Gers blowed Falkirk away after the interval and demonstrated they have the character and mettle to deal with the pressure of a title fight.
Defensive woes remain an underlying concern ahead of split
Rangers will travel to their Spanish training camp in fine fettle and high on confidence.
But the inexcusable first half and the mountain they had to climb to keep their title hopes intact cannot be easily forgotten.
It is now six goals the Gers have conceded in three matches and how easily it can be to cut their defence open should be a penny for Danny Rohl’s thoughts.
Having said that, in a title race, it is the three points that matters and Rangers will travel back to Ibrox with the battle for title 56 alive.
