Five Rangers players with a point to prove in the final five games

  • The Ibrox side have five league matches remaining
  • Danny Rohl’s men are a point behind the summit
  • This is the time for Rangers’ players to deliver

With five matches remaining in the Scottish Premiership, the stakes for Rangers Football Club could not be higher.

The Gers need to maximise their return from the post-split matches to be crowned champions, and the pressure will be intense.

Here are five players who have it all to prove in the next five matches.

1. Oliver Antman

You would be forgiven for forgetting who Antman was after his fourth league appearance this year against Falkirk.

However, by providing the assist for Rangers’ sixth goal minutes after coming on to the pitch, he sent a reminder of his talent and influence.

Therefore, the winger must use that as a catalyst in the remaining five matches to have a positive end to an underwhelming debut season at Ibrox.

2. Andreas Skov Olsen

There was such a buzz when Skov Olsen landed in Glasgow on loan from Wolfsburg in January.

However, he has struggled to adapt to life in Govan and has yet to settle into Danny Rohl’s system.

The Spanish training camp this week may have arrived at the perfect moment, but with others impressing in the Falkirk win, time is running out for the Dane to cement his place.

3. John Souttar

The out-of-form defender has only featured in ten of Rohl’s starting lineups this year.

Souttar signed a new deal until the summer of 2027 just two months ago, but has recently been struggling to make an impact.

With Rohl believed to be targeting Dundee’s Luke Graham, the Scottish international could be facing further competition, and the next five matches are the ideal time to justify his contract extension.

That is if he is called upon, with Manny Fernandez and Nasser Djiga currently the preferred defensive partnership.

Souttar only has himself to blame, and an interesting summer could lie ahead for the Scotland international.

4. Nedim Bajrami

The Albanian scored a last-gasp penalty for Rangers against Dundee United last December in what remains his only goal this season.

Since then, Bajrami has not played a full match for the Gers and last appeared as a substitute in the Scottish Cup quarter-final last month.

The 27-year-old signed from Sassuolo in June 2024 and has two years remaining on his contract.

However, his current situation means he has little time or opportunity to convince Rohl he is worth a jersey.

He is likely to be heading for the exit door.

5. Youssef Chermiti

On the back of scoring a brace in the nine-goal epic against Falkirk, the Rangers striker may seem a surprise inclusion to this list.

But his performances are so ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ it is frightening.

In the same match, the Portuguese missed a golden opportunity to cut the deficit in the first-half with VAR saving his blushes.

Those moments where he lacks composure are why many Rangers supporters still question the decision to pay the multi-million-pound fee for his services.

If he can be less wasteful in front of goal during the split, to fire Rangers to the title, that will quickly change.
