- Nico Raskin rightly earned plaudits for his 2nd half performance against Falkirk
- The Belgian international enjoys senior status and is one of Rangers’ best players
- He has to find consistency over the final five games – that is his challenge
Nico Raskin was peerless last Sunday when he masterminded Rangers stunning comeback against Falkirk.
While the likes of Youssef Chermiti, Bojan Miovski, and Djeidi Gassama also found their feet in the second half, Raskin went above and beyond.
Fine weighted pass for the equaliser. Check. A give-and-go, leading to a stunning goal that he scored. Check. Perfectly weighted cross ball for Miovski’s first and Rangers’ fourth. Check.
This is my ‘problem’ with Raskin. He demonstrates the high level he can operate at, but he doesn’t show it often enough.
Consistency to match his quality
Nico Raskin is a very good player.
However, does he dominate as many games as he did on Sunday against Falkirk? I’m not so sure.
His timing was perfect last weekend, because it was required.
The whole team showed that they can wobble, but what a response they provided.
The five-goal salvo in the second half, with Raskin at the heart of it, has to be the benchmark for the final five games.
That is the challenge that the very talented midfielder and his teammates face.
If they can overcome it, the title will come home to Ibrox.
The climax to the title fight will be full of tension, drama, excitement, and more.
I’m not so sure that Rangers will register a perfect 5/5 record in the remaining games, but I don’t think that Hearts and Celtic will, either.
Nico Raskin can be the driving force that Rangers require. He has shown his quality in abundance against Motherwell, Hearts, Celtic, Hibs and Falkirk before, so why can’t he do it again?
