- Rangers are one goalscorer away from setting new Premiership record
- 21 players have scored for the Ibrox club in the league this season
- High number show how Gers have not relied on a prominent scorer
Rangers enter the final five matches of the season with 21 different scorers in the Scottish Premiership this season.
This means they are currently tied on the number of goalscorers from the 2001/02 season which included players such as Barry Ferguson, Neil McCann and the late Fernando Ricksen.
But perhaps most importantly it highlights that Rangers, according to Scotland’s Coefficient are one goal scored by another player away from reaching the highest number of scorers of any Premiership team since at least 2000.
Connor Barron, Nasser Djiga and John Souttar named with each player assessed
Connor Barron, Nasser Djiga and John Souttar are the three Rangers players who have five games remaining to score and Rangers will have set a new Premiership record.
Barron has only featured for the club in six games since New Year due to a knee injury with his last appearance in the starting lineup in the victory over Aberdeen in January where he assisted both goals.
The 23-year-old played the final 13 minutes of the Falkirk match and playing regularly in the split could provide an opportunity to get on the scoresheet.
John Souttar is a player who is out-of-form and has not been a constant presence on the pitch as a consequence but it is hard to see him not being called upon in the remaining games.
Meanwhile, Nasser Djiga is the only one out of the trio who has played the most regularly over the last four matches having stayed on the pitch for 90-plus minutes.
The centre-back is clearly trusted by Danny Rohl to start and scoring his first goal for Rangers would be a great way to repay that trust.
Number of players on the scoresheet underpins collective attacking threat at Rangers
What the number shows is that Rangers have not required a prolific striker who they can rely on to score goals this season.
However, that only works when you have a group of players who are increasing the goal tally consistently week after week.
Which is exactly what is happening at Ibrox with 14 goals in three matches heading into the split.
This in turn, has led to this situation where a Scottish Premiership record can be set and Rangers are the only team who can achieve it.

At the moment, Rangers ability to not be dependant on a single talisman is working in their favour.
If one of Barron, Djiga or Souttar can score in the last five matches, not only would it create a new record but underline their late-season attacking surge.
And potentially help them clinch the Scottish Premiership title.
