STV appear to backtrack over bizarre Rangers inclusion on Celtic fan trouble report

STV have removed a peculiar report on the fallout from Celtic fans’ title celebrations in Glasgow on Saturday, which only mentioned one club…Rangers.

How does that work?

There was consternation from many Rangers fans after the segment appeared on STV and online, on Monday.

The report from Brandon Cook was on location at the Trongate and Glasgow Cross area of the city centre, where thousands of Celtic fans gathered to celebrate their success on Saturday.

Predictably, the joy and jubilation turned to disorder and destruction.

We’ve seen it all before with these played-out gatherings.

Society’s ills are reflected in the over-indulgence and lack of responsibility, but it appears the reaction is different according to the colours on display.

The double standards of the Old Firm coverage are clear to see, as analysed by Jack Cranmer for Read Rangers.

STV backtracks on peculiar coverage of Celtic fan disorder

As detailed above, Heart and Hand Podcast’s David Edgar drew attention to this strange inclusion of Rangers in the report.

Given that the report centred around Celtic fans celebrating Celtic’s title win, which descended into Celtic fans causing disorder and attacking police, how can it be that the only club mentioned is Rangers?

Peculiarity? Bias? Selective reporting? You can decide.

After the clip was shared online and more attention was drawn to it, the content was later removed by STV.

This suggests that the channel’s bosses had a rethink, or quite possibly, they have received correspondence from Ibrox.

That will likely be dealt with indoors.

Not good enough. Do better STV.
