  • Hearts midfielder Cammy Devlin is the subject of interest from several MLS clubs ahead of World Cup.
  • Australian midfielder is out of contract at Tynecastle after standout season, with Rangers on alert for summer move.
  • Derek McInnes says Devlin has been “consistently brilliant” since his arrival at the club.

Cammy Devlin is attracting interest from several MLS clubs as his contract at Heart of Midlothian approaches its expiry, with the Australian midfielder’s future set to become a key subplot of the summer window.

According to Edinburgh Evening News, multiple sides in Major League Soccer have already made contact regarding the combative midfielder.

Devlin’s situation arrives at a moment of strategic transition for Rangers, who are expected to prioritise recruitment of established SPFL performers this summer under a “pro-Scottish bias” transfer approach led by chairman Andrew Cavenagh.

Devlin is not Scottish but has been a standout within the domestic league over the past year.

Cammy Devlin stars for Hearts

The 27-year-old Australian international is set to feature at the World Cup with the Socceroos.

This comes after he played a central role in Hearts’ strong campaign last season.

They led the Premiership for around 250 days before missing out on the title in a final-day defeat to Celtic.

His profile as a high-intensity, tactically disciplined midfielder with a tendency to win back possession has only strengthened his reputation within the Scottish game.

Particularly among clubs seeking reliability and aggression in central areas like Rangers.

Former Ger praises Cammy Devlin as ‘dying breed’

Former Rangers midfielder and current Jambos boss Derek McInnes has been full of praise for the dynamo.

“He’s been consistently brilliant for me since we came in. A big part of what we are,” he said.

“He’s one of those players who are a wee bit of a dying breed but his influence is his ability to make others round about him better just by being what he is.

“He’s very demanding. I’m lucky I’ve inherited a lot of good senior pros here and Cammy’s certainly one of them.

“His performances have been first class.”

At Ibrox, midfield restructuring is already expected, with Nico Raskin widely anticipated to depart following his own involvement at the World Cup with Belgium. That potential exit has intensified the need for reinforcement in the engine room.

Head coach Danny Rohl is understood to be assessing options for a more physically assertive midfield profile.

With Devlin’s name understood to fit the broader recruitment direction being discussed internally.

While MLS interest adds a significant alternative pathway for the Hearts midfielder, the combination of contract timing, international exposure and domestic demand ensures his next move is likely to be closely watched on both sides of the Atlantic.

Should Rangers make a move, it would be a clear indication of Cavenagh’s new transfer policy at Ibrox.
